Cheer Classes

The Path to Xtreme Excellence

At Minnesota Xtreme, our cheer classes are designed for athletes of all levels — from first-timers to those chasing elite competition! Whether your child is brand new to cheerleading or looking to take their skills to the next level, we have a place for them. Our classes start with the basics — things like arm movements, jumps, and beginner stunting and grow from there. As your athlete gets more comfortable, they can move into more focused training based on what they love most. Want to be the one flying through the air? We’ve got a class for that! More interested in being the strong, steady base that makes it all happen? We’ve got that too! Every class is run in a fun, encouraging environment where the goal is simple: help your child build confidence, get stronger, and be part of something amazing. We meet every athlete where they are and help them reach their personal best — one practice at a time.

Cheer Class Options

Cheer Basics: Building the Foundation

Cheer Basics introduces athletes to the core elements of cheerleading in a fun, structured, and supportive environment. This class focuses on building a strong foundation by teaching beginner stunting techniques, sharp motions, jumps, basic dance skills, and flexibility. It is designed to help participants develop confidence, coordination, and teamwork while discovering the fundamentals of the sport. Tumbling is not included in the curriculum, as the primary goal is to practice and drill essential cheer skills safely with an emphasis on proper technique. It is an ideal starting point for anyone curious about cheer who wants to explore the activity in a positive and encouraging setting.

Stunt Foundations 101

Stunt Foundations 101 is designed to teach and strengthen the core fundamentals of stunting in a safe and structured environment. This class is ideal for beginner and intermediate athletes looking to build confidence and proper technique in their current stunt position. Participants focus on proper grips, body positioning, loading techniques, and timing to ensure stability and safety. The curriculum also covers basic prep level stunts, transitions, and controlled dismounts. Throughout the course, there is a strong emphasis on communication and teamwork between bases, backs, and flyers. By prioritizing technique and consistency before progressing to advanced skills, athletes build the strength and awareness needed to advance in their cheerleading journey.

Xtreme Strength Lab

Xtreme Strength Lab is a high-energy conditioning class designed specifically for athletes who want to improve their physical performance and endurance. The curriculum focuses on building core strength for better body control, leg power for explosive movements, and upper body stability for steadier technical execution. Participants engage in upbeat and challenging activities, including competitive circuits and timed drills that target flexibility and mobility to help prevent injuries. By concentrating on overall athleticism, this class helps athletes develop the strength and confidence needed to perform at their highest level.

Xtreme Elevation: Jump Training

Xtreme Elevation Jump Training is designed to build powerful and explosive jumps that are ready for a competitive scoresheet. This focused training breaks down proper jump mechanics and body positions while improving height, flexibility, timing, and landings. Athletes work on variations such as toe touches, pikes, and front hurdlers through detailed corrections and drill progressions. The curriculum emphasizes correct arm swing, rebound control, and core power conditioning to ensure consistency. Rather than introducing entirely new skills, the class focuses on refining and strengthening current jumps to maximize performance and confidence heading into tryouts and choreography seasons.

Flyer Training

Flyer Training focuses on the specialized skills required for athletes who perform in the air during stunts. This class concentrates on the ability to pull and hold various body positions on the floor, stunt stands, and other unstable surfaces to build balance and control. Participants work on mastering specific shapes such as liberties, heel stretches, scales, and scorpions while developing the core strength needed for transitions like tic tocs. There is a heavy emphasis on building the confidence and performance quality required to hit sharp motions while maintaining stability. By practicing these techniques in a controlled environment, athletes improve their flexibility and the specific muscle memory necessary for elite level stunting.

The Tryout Blueprint

The Tryout Blueprint is designed to prepare athletes for the competitive team evaluation process with clarity and confidence. In this class, coaches walk participants step-by-step through the structured evaluation process, explaining how skills are scored and what staff members specifically look for during team placements. Athletes review required tumbling skills, refine jump techniques, and practice performance quality and projection. The curriculum also includes a review of flexibility standards and a walkthrough of role-specific expectations for stunting. Because this is not a skill-building class, the focus remains entirely on cleaning and strengthening existing abilities to ensure every athlete feels calm and prepared.
