Classes For All Ages & Skill Levels

Our tumbling program at Minnesota Xtreme provides a comprehensive, progression-based training experience designed to help athletes of all skill levels reach their full potential. This program emphasizes a positive, safe, and structured environment where participants focus on building core physical attributes such as strength, flexibility, and coordination. By following a clear curriculum, athletes advance through levels at their own pace, ensuring they master foundational techniques before moving on to more complex power moves. Beyond physical skills, the program is dedicated to fostering character, confidence, and a strong work ethic in every participant.

Recreational Class Options

IsoTots Tumbling

(Ages 2-3)
The IsoTots Tumbling class provides a supportive environment for young athletes to begin their journey into physical activity. This program focuses on developing essential motor skills and body awareness through a curriculum that emphasizes coordination, confidence, and listening skills. Participants practice foundational positions such as the pike, tuck, and straddle while working on movements like the forward roll, tumbling lunge, and tabletop. The class serves as an ideal introduction to movement and basic gymnastics shapes, helping athletes build a strong foundation before they eventually progress to higher levels of training.

SuperKids Tumbling

(Ages 5-7)
The Superkids Tumbling class focuses on basic motor development and foundational skills without any required prerequisites. Athletes work on the proper execution of essential body positions including the pike, tuck, straddle, and straight stand. The curriculum introduces more technical movements such as the tumbling lunge, forward and backward rolls, and the lever. As participants gain coordination, they also practice skills like the L-stand, tabletop or bridge, and cartwheels, with the goal of showing mastery in each area.

Tumbling Fundamentals - Beginner

The Tumbling Fundamentals Beginning class continues building foundational skills as athletes progress through a structured curriculum. The program focuses on the proper execution of essential body positions, including the pike, tuck, straddle, and straight stand. Participants work toward mastery of technical movements such as the tumbling lunge, lever, and both forward and backward rolls. As coordination improves, the class introduces more advanced shapes and skills like the bridge, elbow bridge, beginner handstand, and cartwheel. Athletes are encouraged to demonstrate precision in each movement before advancing to the intermediate level.

Tumbling Fundamentals - Intermediate

The Tumbling Fundamentals Intermediate class focuses on the proper execution of more technical maneuvers, requiring athletes to show mastery of each skill before moving toward walkovers. The curriculum emphasizes advanced body positions such as the left and right splits, as well as the tight arch and tight hollow. Participants work on dynamic movements including the power hurdle, cartwheel step-in, and the T-stand. Additionally, the class covers essential inversions and transitions like the handstand, handstand forward roll, backbend, and backbend kick-over.

Walkovers

The Walkovers class focuses on the development and proper execution of front and back walkovers. Athletes work on a variety of specialized movements, including series front and back walkovers as well as cartwheel front and back walkover transitions. Training emphasizes key body positions such as the splits, tumbling lunge, front and back levers, and the T-stand. To ensure safety and technical precision, participants must demonstrate mastery of each skill before they are eligible to progress to the advanced walkover level.

Handsprings

The Handsprings class focuses on the development and proper execution of back handsprings, round-off back handsprings, and front handsprings. This program emphasizes critical body positions, including the tight arch and the tight or long hollow, to ensure technical precision. Participants work toward mastering these foundational power moves, and athletes must demonstrate proficiency in each skill before they are eligible to progress to the advanced handsprings level.

Handsprings - Advanced

The Handsprings-Advanced class focuses on the mastery of back handspring series and stepouts, round-off back handspring series, and flysprings. Athletes work on the proper execution of these advanced power movements while maintaining essential body positions such as the tight arch and the tight or long hollow. This level is designed for those who have already mastered the fundamentals of individual handsprings and are ready to transition into more complex sequences. Participants must demonstrate complete control and technical proficiency in each of these skills to be eligible for the tucks class.

Tucks

The Tucks class focuses on the technical development and proper execution of several high-level skills, including round-off back handspring tucks and standing back tucks. Athletes also work on specialized power movements such as punch front tucks and front handspring front tucks. The curriculum emphasizes mastering the mechanics of each jump and rotation to ensure safety and precision. Participants are expected to show complete proficiency in all tuck variations before they are eligible to progress to the layout level.

Layouts/Fulls

The Layouts and Fulls class focuses on the learning and proper execution of elite-level tumbling skills. Athletes work on mastering the round-off back handspring layout and the standing back handspring or series to layout. The curriculum also introduces twisting elements, including the round-off back handspring full and standing sequences ending in a full. Additionally, participants practice front layouts to round out their skill set. To register for this class, athletes must first demonstrate mastery of the skills taught in the tucks level.

SuperKids Tumbling

SuperKids Tumbling requires no previous experience and emphasizes basic motor development alongside foundational tumbling positions such as the pike, tuck, and straddle. Athletes work on essential movements including forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, and bridges. To progress to the next level, students must demonstrate mastery of these core skills and maintain proper execution throughout their practice.

Tumbling Fundamentals – Beginning continues building basic skills as students progress through the curriculum. Athletes focus on proper execution while practicing motor development and essential body positions like the pike, tuck, straddle, and straight stand. The coursework covers the tumbling lunge, lever, forward and backward rolls, and the bridge or elbow bridge. Students also work toward mastering the beginner handstand and cartwheel.

Tumbling Fundamentals - Intermediate

Tumbling Fundamentals – Intermediate builds upon established foundations to prepare athletes for more advanced maneuvers. This level emphasizes increased power and more complex movement patterns while maintaining a strict focus on technical precision. Athletes refine their existing skills to ensure they have the necessary strength and body control to transition into specialized flight and power tumbling.

Walkovers

Walkovers focuses on mastering standing back bends, walkovers, handstand front limbers, and front walkovers. This session is intended for those who have already mastered the cartwheel, handstand, and backbend. Athletes work to refine their flexibility and control to execute these transitional skills with proper form.

Handsprings

Handsprings is designed for those who have mastered the backbend or back walkover and are ready to move to the next level. In this session, athletes learn and master the standing back handspring while also working on improving round-off technique. The curriculum focuses on building the explosive power and specialized body shapes required for successful handspring execution.

Tumbling for Dancers

Tumbling for Dancers is a technique-based class designed to help athletes incorporate acro and tumbling elements into their performances. This class emphasizes strength, flexibility, and body control while teaching progressions for skills that add dynamic impact to choreography. Participants work on mastering skills including limbers, front and back walkovers, Valdez, switch-leg walkovers, cartwheels, and introductory side aerial drills. Instruction focuses on proper technique, safety, and clean execution to help each athlete build consistency and confidence. By training in this class, athletes expand their versatility and gain the ability to seamlessly integrate powerful tumbling passes into their routines.

Tumbling for Dancers - Advanced

Tumbling for Dancers – Advanced is designed for experienced performers who want to increase their acro and tumbling capabilities for choreography. This class focuses on high-level skills including walkovers, aerials, handsprings, and other specialty elements used in competitive dance. The training emphasizes the seamless integration of power tumbling with the grace and precision required for stage performances.
